tourist trips to visit the beautiful surroundings.
Here is a example of organised tourist programme.
FRIDAY: arrival at Cavallari Service Area
SATURDAY: trip to the woods of Mesola
SUNDAY: a day out through the beautiful Comacchio Valleys, with lunch in
a typical restaurant.
For those arriving with means other than campers, we can offer a stay
at one of the 23 apartments in Porto Garibaldi, managed by an estate agency that
collaborates with us.
If, alternatively, you wish to visit the area on your own, we suggest the following
routes.
Journey along the Acciaioli Embankment
Departing from Porto Garibaldi in the North direction, you can follow the scenic
road crossing the whole area of Comacchio Lidi, it is called Acciaioli and it
is at a few metres above the ground. You can travel along this road by bicycle
for about 6 kilometres and enjoy the view of our countryside with fields, vineyards
and orchards.
After Lido di Pomposa, with the coastal dunes of San Giuseppe, you proceed
towards Lido delle Nazioni and you will see the lake "Lago delle Nazioni"
on your right side and the wonderful Bertuzzi Valley on your left. After a few
kilometres you will get to Lido di Volano that is today Natural Resort, thanks
to its big and intact pinewood.
Route for cyclists: Comacchio-Ostellato-Argenta
A brand new route for cyclists, entirely dedicated to the valley landscape,
has been opened this year. It goes from Comacchio, following the water way of
Ferrara and the canals created through several great drainings, to the Ostellato
Valleys, a natural oasis equipped for ecological tourism and birdwatching. From
Ostellato, proceeding for another twenty kilometres through the plain, you can
reach Argenta, with a break halfway at the valleys of Porto and Bando that have
become natural oasis and a destination for bird migrations. A route through the
several aspects of the Delta region of the river Po.
Route for cyclists: Destra Po
This is one of the world's longest cycle tracks: 130 km, five itineraries,
each one perfectly connected with the others, from Gorino Ferrarese, on the east
side, to Stellata di Bondeno on the west side, cycling along rivers and streams
and resting to admire the stunning heritage of the Renaissance era of Ferrara.
The Po Delta and Comacchio Lidi are the extremes of a journey that offers a great
opportunity to make your holiday less ordinary, to leave the beach for a day and
enjoy a particularly fascinating inland.
Route Agosta Embankment
The Agosta Embankment offers another fascinating itinerary on the Comacchio
Valleys. Departing from Comacchio the route coasts the archaeological site of
S. Maria in Padovetere, a Christian settlement of the VI century and of the Spina
Etrurians. It proceeds to the Agosta Embankment, a sandbar of the Etruscan era
that was once probably covered by the roman way Pompilia. The embankment runs
along the Zavalea Valley and proceeds for nine kilometres exactly on the ridge
that separates the lands of the Valley of Mezzano, drained in the '50s, from the
waters of the Valley of Magnavacca. The route ends at the crossroad that brings
to the inland of Anita or alternatively to the river Reno, back to the Romea state
road and the Comacchio Valleys.
By Motorship
You can also spend exciting days in the impressive Delta region on big and
comfortable boats, looking for the most suggestive places and enjoying the typical
food of our cuisine, characterised by unique and unforgettable tastes. From the
morning until the evening a series of organised trips can show you the different
aspects of one of the most fascinating natural oasis of our country.
